I guess that's how you start a blog, right? For at least the past 9 years I have been trying to start this blog. As a labor and delivery nurse in a level 4 hospital, I always wanted more. I wanted to be able to help new parents both before the birth through education and in postpartum with home visits for both baby care and lactation. The problem is they do not teach you about business in nursing school, and ultimately this side of things is business. Its scary and intimidating and the hospital sets you up to think you should just be happy with your bedside job.

In today's post COVID healthcare system care is declining. I am now working as an IBCLC in postpartum. I see staff turnover that is terrifying. I see patients leaving the hospital quickly because they think that is what they should do. I see a lot of social media influence of unnecessary products and not medically sound advice. I am finally at a place personally where I have the time and education to help how I have wanted to for the past years.

My goal is provide insight to expecting and new parents on both what I have seen as a bedside labor and delivery nurse and what I am currently seeing as a postpartum IBCLC. So I hope you will enjoy reading as I have a lot stored in core memories that I cannot wait to share.
